Avril Lavigne kicked off a short concert tour of 21 shows in the US and Canada this afternoon at the Mall of America. While the crowd didn't gather real early as I have seen at many of these events it was still a very good showing of her fans. Avril and her guitarist, Evan Taubenfld, played a short set for about 30 minutes, which included songs from her new CD, due xsout on May 25th, along with songs from her last CD.
This was truly a two-person performance with both Avril and Evan playing acoustic guitars and singing. While playing "Complicated" and "Sk8ter Boi" from her last CD and "Don't Tell Me" from her new CD the enthusiast crowd almost drown out her singing as they sang along.
Until Tuesday only the cities of the tour had been announced. The schedule of dates and times for the shows were kept a secret so the fans had very short notice for this show. There were plenty of local and national media present for photos of Avril and Evan, and after the show photos and interviews with the fans.
